INTAKE INSTALL GUIDE / HELP (SHORTRAM, 94 EX)
Overview of all hoses / caps / intake
This shows the Water Hose that needs to be installed (this is the hose that everyone always wonders about - people throw this away or attach it to things that dont need to be changed...its crazy)
Water Hose
This is the line that needs to be capped off for the engine to run right. If you have a rough idle or low idle check this first.
Capped off Line
This is the other place that people dont know about. You install the foam filter here (FIA Controller Line). This is the next spot you look when you have idle problems
Foam Filter
This is where you install the rubber mounting bracket. The intake needs to be installed like this or you void any warranty, it shouldnt just hang - it bolts into the car
Mounting
The breather hose, water hose, capped off line, and FIA line are all shown in the overview. If you need any help be sure and E-Mail me or post on one of the web boards.
SUPPLEMENT 1
SOME BASIC VOCABULARY (WHAT THE HELL AEM AND I ARE TALKING ABOUT):
1: Capping off: The full kits mostly come with a vaccum cap that you place over a line
that wraps around your stock intake tube and ends up at your intake manifold. Basically
I mean that you are closing it off.
2: FIA Controller: the little black box, not the stock airbox, but the other one that everyone is always worried about.
3: Foam filter: a peice of foam supplied with complete kits that goes in place of the FIA controller line (as shown)
4: Breather hose: hose / line running from the intake to the valve cover
5: Water hose: the third in the trio of metal lines that you will remove when you are replacing your intake. One is the FIA line, and one is the breather hose. The water hose actually is deceiving
as that it comes up to meet the other 2 metal lines in that cluster, but then goes down and ends up about 2" from where it started. Full kits supply a hose to replace this with.
6: air box: the box that your stock intake tube ended up at. It comes out.
